How are you all doing? I am doing awesome!!! i love this. Its just a bunch of fun boys hanging out all day. So lets start from the begining. I am in a district with 9 elders and an hermana. My companion is Elder Dahle. My pretty much best friend is Elder Reynolds. He is super athletic and way good in soccer. He played for pleasant grove. (The shift key is in a totally weird spot so i am gonna stop using capitals) i get up, eat breakfast, study than class, eat than class, study than sports than class, than eat, than class, than sleep. a totally full day. I love the sports here. its just soccer and i have gotten pretty good. i am proud to say i am the third best white dude here....oh sorry, elder dude here. dude is a hard habit to break. So anyways, onto the best miracle of my mission...so far. and i have to say its gonna be a hard one to beat.
Last monday, i think, i woke up with the worst cough, sore throat and runniest slash stuffy nose of my life! dang allergies. So elder reynolds gave me two teeny tiny allergy pills. so i tried to sneak away to the bathroom to chew my pills in peace right? well, this whole companion thingy makes that impossible. He followed right behind me. i prayed the WHOLE way up the stairs to the sink. So i just decided to try to swallow one...maybe get lucky. Threw back my head, restrained my tongue cuz it likes to block my throat and threw that pill back. Took a drink of water and......wow. it went down! Just to make sure it wasn´t luck, i did it with the other one! For all those reading, you would definately know that its a miracle if you have even watched me try to swallow a pill. i normally would rather endure the nasty taste than even attempt it. I wish i would have gotten a picture of it.
It is way fun here tho. i am so so so glad i came. The spirit is HUGE. and sadly, so huge, that one Elder went home. I was kinda close to him......it sucked. Guilt caught up with him. so if you know of anyone going on a mission, make sure you get EVERYTHING cleared up. Cuz once he was here, he did not want to leave. it had only been 3 or 4 days, but we had grown such a huge bond to each other. it was hard to say good bye.
I will write you all individually after i print off the e mails. I love you all. Creo en dios, mi padre celestial. Se que jesucristo espió para mis pecados y los pecados del mundo. el evangelio is verdadero, and there is no doubt in my mind of that.
Love always,
Elder Christensen
p.s. Happy birthday Judy
oh and also, the latinos (you´ll read about that when you get my first letter hopefully tomorrow) call me baby rooney cuz of the English soccer king rooney. they say i look just like him....so someone send me a pic of him. love you :-)
(Added in another email: "oh and i forgot . . . this saturday i will be dropped off in the suburbs of Buenos Aires with my compañero and my scriptures. I will be out for 9 hours teaching the gospel in SPANISH! The other elders say that you just like say Do you believe in god? and they rattle something off in spanish back and so you say Si si, and smile and bear your testimony. Haha so pray for me to be fluent.")
(Also added: "i haven´t cried yet til just writing these stinking e mails.....i guess it finally hit me")
(In response to an email about how the language is going, he said: "i am literally leagues ahead of almost everyone here. Whoever said that high school spanish would only help for a week has no idea what they are talking about. Everyone only knows how to ask questions and bare testimonies off the cards. i can actually do pretty well. my companion tho....holy cow is bad. maybe that is why i am with him. Saturday should give me a whole bunch of stories to tell you all. I have one minute so i love you hil. tell annie and ellie that i love them too...and issac i guess. That way he can know im the best uncle. wish me luck. I LOVE YOU ALL even greg. give him a kiss for me. :-) bye")
(Note from Hilary: Here's a picture of "King" Wayne Rooney, the soccer player)
