Dear Family,

what is going on. how are y all doing. i am doing great. Not a bad
week, lots of stuff to write. First, we were walking over the town
bridge and i saw a sea lion!! ok it looked a lot like a sea lion but
it turned out to an otter. it was just playing down in the river. When
i finally got a peanut out to try to feed it, it left. but it was
cool.

Than one day we were walking out to a far village and we have to cross
many barb wire fences, many of which are electric. it is very
dangerous work. Well, once we had gotten past all the bad parts, we
were walking in the last field and there was this like string going
along with us, marking some plants. i put my hand into an O over it
and ran it thru my fingers. OW. turned out that it was electric! a
thread! i than convinced my comp that i was faking it and i dared him
to touch it. he tapped it a few times and nothing happened, so he
layed his hand on it a bit longer and yup...he scrame. it was funny.
it had little metal things going thru it. what kinda dirty trick is to
make a string, seriously the size of yarn, electric.

and by far the funnest part of the week...KARAOKE. i dont know if that
is spelled right.

It was a pretty fun little activity, with lots of people from the
stake. They brought big speakers and a computer and even a little
disco ball thing. The people all went up one by one singing a calm
song, and ya it was cute but not fun. So they invited the missionaries
to do a duet. So, if you are about to sing to 15 spanish speaking
uruguayans, what song are you gonna sing? So there we were, infront of
everyone, singing a famous Abba song....yup, DANCING QUEEN. it was
awesome and everyone loved it. i have never made such a fool outta
myself! we danced and sang and i learned the word ¨jive.¨ We will ever
be famous for that one.

Now the spiritual part of the weekend...

Than we had a branch conference here yesterday. it was cool. there was
a bunch of stake leaders squashed into that little church building. I
gave the first class, which was kinda intimidating. There was a few
members from our ward, and than the stake pres, his two councelors,
the patriarch and ALL their wives. It was about our testimony of Jesus
Christ. the whole thing went well, but the end was good. i used a part
that the stake president had taught me a long time ago. I ll take you
all back to the moment. The night of my set apart thingy. We drove to
the church, me and star in the front listening to my last song on the
radio (soul sista by train) mom and dad in the back. The whole family
was in the little stake presidents office. Grandpa P. was crying, mom
was crying....dad was probably crying. I remember that president davey
asked me what three things we learn about god from joseph smiths
vision. Luckily, i had just recently read that in my few studies of
Preach my Gospel. Do you guys know the three things?? That they are
two seperate, that they have bodies, and the big one....I did the
exact same to the class and no one knew. I am sure they knew but they
didnt catch it. I remember that he(stake pres.) asked me that and i
answered the three as i fought back tears and as the spirit really got
to me telling me what i was saying was true. God appears to joseph and
as he points to the son, calls joseph by name. God knows us. That is
what i pointed out in that class and everyone just kinda thru out the
AHH. It was a pretty spiritual class and i got lots of comments after.
I have thought about that experience in the stake presidents office a
lot in the mission. It is just nice to think that god knows every one
of us, by name. I dont know if he calls me Cody or Elder Christensen,
but i know that he knows me and my heart, and that when i need him, he
is there. That is a little of what i learned this week, or of which my
learning expanded. i love you all

love elder christensen
