Hola Familia,
Guess what? we survived the FAKE 2012 SCARE OF 2011!!!! haha it was
crazy. ok, actually minas is really chill and nobody cared. But every
week we go to Solis de Mataojo ( a little pueblito) and apparently
they went nuts there. Why didnt anyone tell me the world was gonna end
saturday. I didnt even hear about it til saturday. In montevideo, they
were handing out bibles and all kinds of weird things. Than i heard
that it wasnt supposed to be the end of the world, just the final
judgement or something, but no one here heard that.
It was a fairly nice end of the world type of day. Not cold, not hot.
The sky was blue with a couple of big fluffy clouds. I sang the sond
its the end of the world a lot to my comp, i have never really thought
of the words before yesterday. it repeats its the end of the world as
we know it a few times and than says, and i feel fine. hahaha that is
how i felt. Random street contacts would ask us what we think and i
would just look up at the sky and say Todavia Celeste (still blue),
yup, were gonna go ahead and make plans for tomorrow...when can we
pass by in the coming up week that we can visit your house again? haha
i am very sly. but than it really is dumb, cuz people with nervousness
problems or depression can really be affected by it. We talked to a
member in Solis and her neighbor went out and bought kilos of dulces,
ate them all friday night thinking she wouldnt wake up saturday, and
than she woke up very, very sick.
Well, we arent gonna be baptizing miriam for a while. she said she was
gonna come the sunday and we were gonna baptize her the next saturday.
she didnt come. Well, the problem is that she is OVER 8 1/2 months
prego and cant walk. so now were gonna wait til after the baby. how
long? i have no idea?
We did have this one crazy, interesting investigator. she said she was
gonna go from 9 to 10 to church cuz she had to tend her grandkids. she
wasnt at church, again. So i dragged my comp outta priesthood and
tracked her down. i was determined to get her in church. We found her
gardening in her back yard!! grrrrrr! so we kinda had a little
discussion and she finally said, What, you want me to go now in this?!
Quite simply, yes. so she changed in just a couple minutes and we
went. SHE LOVED IT. she loved relief society and all the people there.
she even said the closing prayer. than, since we arrived late, she
said she would stay til 10 30. Principle of the gospel she loved even
more. she commented and read and all that good stuff! 10' 30 rolled
around and she said, well i can stay just 15 more minutes.
hahahahahaha! sweet.
This lady is super funny. i love visiting her. she jokes and is just
normal...almost like an american :) she thinks that i am thirty years
old or more and wont believe i am not 20 . she also thinks that i have
the most precious smile ever! lol i really hope she gets baptized. she
is reading and praying and now we just gotta get her to stop gardening
on sundays and she ll be good. man i love this work.
Thanks for everything, love you guys!
Love elder cody christensen
apparently the rapture was a big deal there too. tell me all about it.
all we heard was a guy who has studied the bible for a very long time
found the numbers and did all the calculations. Well, someone who has
EVER studied the bible, just a little of it, would know that it says
no one knows, not even the angels or evern jesus christ. would god
just hide the numbers in the bible...jajaja. doesnt make sense.
